computer power switch This is a topic that many people are looking for. khurak.net is a channel providing useful information about learning, life, digital marketing and online courses …. it will help you have an overview and solid multi-faceted knowledge . Today, khurak.net would like to introduce to you How To Install – A Custom PC power switch? (On Your Desk). Following along are instructions in the video below:
“Need a pair of scissors. You need one switch. You need an old pc cable. Cable.
This is a reset switch and a phillips head screwdriver snip. The end off cable. Then we re going to just tie off the end just twist. It as you can see this is a standard reset switch.
This is our button that we re going to be using you can pick this up from any of the online pc retailers amazon ebay feels quite nice well made it s got this weird little screw design. I d rather soldered. So we ve removed the old power switch. That s attached to the case.
As you can see here. It s just in standard to pin on any motherboard. Bit dusty let me show you what my problem was i don t want to sit down. And keep having to reach over because usually i ve got loads of usb cables headphone jacks at the top and i don t want to be messing around so.
I thought it d be nice to just install a switch right here on my desk. So as you can see in my case. I ve already got some led lights. I ve drilled some holes into the bottom of the pc case.
So this will make the whole process a little bit easier you ll need one drill. One of these bits. Which is a step drill then what we re going to do is quickly mark off. Where we would like it plug in the cable into the motherboard.
So we re going to try and judge how long the cable is and you know trying to position. It i ve fed the cable into the motherboard here s our switch. And we want it roughly about here get some masking tape. So mark off exactly where you would like your switch to be fitted a couple of pieces of masking tape.
Because you don t want to splinter your desk. While drilling. So let s just do that so once you re happy with this we can move along to the next step so find a drill bit that s consuming a lot smaller drill. The initial hole slowly again you don t want to splinter your desk like i almost just did then by bashing it in once we ve done that you can see a hole is here it s not nowhere near the correct size.
I like to keep a clean workspace let s clean up you can also see what you re doing a lot better so now we re going to move on to our step drill. So we install that onto your cordless now as you can see from the step drill. We need to go pretty much towards the bottom step. Which is around 19 mil or 3 4.
Inch. Is what the size of this switch is so now that we got our step drill all ready to go we will slowly step by step take it down to the desired length. Now you re going to have to drill from the underside. Which we will do in a moment as well to even out the hole.
Because you got to remember. This is a cone shape drill bit. So you want to do this process. Quite slowly.
You don t want to over drill. Then you ll widen the hole. Too big and the switch one fit nicely so this is the underside of the table as you can see it s threading in nicely. Now we re going to drill a second hole for the cable itself coming from the pc through the bottom of the pc case into the desk.
So then when we position our pc case back over this hole. It will be a nice neat finish so now that you can see i m going to put this through like so and then slide the pc tower back to where it needs to go pull the came through from the underside of the desk. And there you have it looks very neat and all you re left with is the switch laziness at its best. So now we re just going to quickly wire.
This up only two cables to screw in basically so you re going to undo the thread on the switch itself this is weird usually i d be soldiering. But you know it s not a lot more convenient and a lot more easier for people who don t like soldering anything so make sure everything s all nicely lined up tight in the first one you re positive and then you re negative be careful with your screws. I did drop it and it took me a good 25 minutes to find the little bugger once that bit goes in tight in the second cable and we re all good so those as you can see it s all working and you re left with a nice simple clean power switch on your desk and if you enjoyed this video be sure to smash that like button and i ll see you on the next. ” .
