” s up hey guys. It s yvonne in this updated video again i want to to show you how to split test your google ads in the new adwords editor. This applies to campaigns ad. Sets and ads.
And is a simple process involving ad duplication and copying and pasting. So let s get started with the campaign. This campaign is wordpress that we did in our previous video. So let s say we want to duplicate the campaign and all the corresponding ad sets and ads associated with this campaign.
The process is simple for a campaign we click on this we click copy and we click paste you can also do ctrl c and ctrl v this gets a little bit more complicated in the ad level. And i ll tell you why when we get there. But let s just do this really quickly so at the bottom. It should tell you here your changes have been made so let me just quickly change.
My filtering options and you should see that new campaigns. Both there okay so i ve updated my filter to make sure we have the most relevant campaigns. But as you can see here we have wordpress and then we have wordpress number. 2.
Which was automatically made to indicate that this is campaign number 2 with everything the same so. If i click over here to this campaign. Here you should see at group 1. And you should see the exact same ad as you would for the previous campaign.
So let me go back to all campaigns. Let s click on this one really quickly as you can see it also says at 1. And it has the exact same keywords and exact same ads ok..
So. That s the campaign level. So at the top here. Let s go back to all campaigns.
Let s go back to this specific campaign and let s say now we want to duplicate an and set. So that everything remains the same except. We want to change up the keyword. So we don t want to go through the whole process of creating a new asset.
We just want to take what we have and change up some keywords. So here s how we do that we would simply select that again click copy click paste and let s pause the new outset and there you go it s done and it says ad group. 1. Number 2 ok.
So that s done automatically now you can take more okay so for the ads. We ll be doing is we ll be taking three to four ads at a time and duplicating those. But here i m just showing you the process. So you know even for a groups.
What we can do is we can select both of these we can copy and we can paste them again so if you want to you know for the ads will be experimenting with tons of different ad copies to see. Which one performs the best for that one we ll have you know eight to ten different ad copies per ad set to help us determine. Which one would be best when we use conversion tracking. So that s that so let s go into.
Now. The ad group and let s let s go to this very specific level of ads. So over here in this in this new editor..
It s not as straightforward as in the old editor. There are a few things we may need to do you may get some error messages and that s what i wanted to show you here so let s start off by doing exactly that which we do which we did for the campaign and ad set we ll click copy this ad okay say we want to change a few words and we want to see which ad performs better when what to test our copywriting. Now you can t paste here. Until you remove this x sign and then you can either click here you can click control.
V. Let s say pause new ads you have to say if ad already exists create duplicate otherwise. It will say error there this ad already exists. So let s click paste over here.
And here. Is what what happens okay so it gave you an error message. So let s just copy this thing. So i m just going to double click that message.
I m going to open in your window. And i ll just paste. It here so as you can see here is the entire message. It says an error occurred.
Please try again later closed ad status okay so for this case. They want us to close the ad status. So you may get some error message similar to this just copy. It and read what the full thing says.
So what we have to do here is instead of add status full. But removed we ll need to make it we ll need to set it to all so these are all the ads that are removed. But for the purpose of doing this duplication..
We must have them present even though they are a bit annoying. So let s click copy. Here. And now.
I m going to so i need to cancel it out now. I ll paste and let s see if that works for us. And it looks like it did okay so here you have this one add paste it so now let s just create a few more copies like i mentioned we want to create you know i usually have 8 to 10. I don t copy 8 to 10 here.
But that is something that you can do simply with this process. So now we have all these adds there you go now what we can do is we can go into each one of them just just change whatever you want to change you know try trying to build a website. Okay great this is just about you know call out extensions. And what what not don t worry about that i ll just click cancel so there you go we ve done that change.
Let s go to the other apps. Let s maybe change that you know put this in the bottom. And this is so change headline. 1.
And headline. 2. So let them base on here and say try out wordpress today. You know so something like that etc.
Etc. You do that for all of your ads. And there..
You go. A. Really simple and easy way for you to split test of course that little red message could get annoying. But just copy the full thing into you know a notepad.
See what it says and make the necessary changes to be able to copy paste. But that s pretty much it really simple way for you to you know create tons of different ads and determine which one works best much easier and faster way to split test. In this video, I show you how to setup split testing with your campaigns, ad groups, and ads inside Google AdWords.
The process is really simply – we just create those additional campaigns, ad groups, and ads to differentiate our target audience, whether it s by keywords, country, gender, age, time, or more. In order to do that, we need to create additional split testing within our ad network.
Campaign differentiation will allow us to differentiate our audience by a variety of factors, but mainly location, times, gender, and age.
After we create a separate campaign with a differentiated target, we will be able to narrow down our audience even further and determine which campaign and thus audience is more likely to buy our products.
In the previous video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7gUmW5n3dwu0026index=20u0026list=PLS46f4aLJ2hNH0RJi21DWAXeCdCT1Lhy6u0026t=6s) we have created a new campaign, and we definitely do NOT need to go through the same tedious process to create another name simply to differentiate them based on location as we have done in our video.
We can simply select our campaign, copy it, and then paste it in the same place. This will give us two exactly same campaigns. What we need to do next is just rename the new campaign, and change the locations to EXCLUDE the locations we have originally set (US and Canada). This way, we will be able to see which geographic market works better for us by tracking the conversions and then focusing more of our budget into that campaign.
Next, we will need to create more ad groups. Ad groups are differentiated based on the keywords, so we can create multiple ad groups with that – perhaps some related only to our product, others around the general area of interest, another around error terms, etc…
We used the keyword selector tool in this video to determine what other keywords people normally search for when looking for our product.
These terms we added to our list, and then simply created another ad group on the spot directly on the keyword selector tool. We can create several different ad groups based on different keywords, and then just copy all of them, and paste them into our other campaign.
Alternatively and as shown in the video, you can first create all the ad groups and campaigns, and then just copy and paste one campaign.
Last but not least, we can split test our ads. The only difference between the different ads would be the ad copies, and that involves different headlines and descriptions.
We can simply copy and paste an ad directly inside the ad group and just change a few things around before we click OK . So for example for one of the ad groups our title can be great monkey for sale , whereas on the other it could be sale for great monkeys right now .
If you happen to get an error message when copying and pasting your individual ads, simply copy the message by double clicking on it, and paste it somewhere so that you can read the entire message. Do what the message tells you to do and then duplicate the ads again. It should work this time.
You get the point – play around with that and make as many ads as you want. I would limit myself to around 8 ads, just because if you create way too many, you may not get enough clicks to go around to actually determine what works or not. But this depends on how confident you are that you will actually get traffic on your ads. No clicks = no chance to actually test all the ads.
Now that we have created all of our different variations and we are ready to head into action, we need to do one last thing, and that is to actually tell Google that we need to rotate our ads evenly, NOT based on conversion or click optimization – we will do that ourselves. You need to go to the campaigns tab, go to the settings tab, and scroll all the way to the bottom to the ad rotation spot.
Click on it, and select either rotate indefinitely or rotate for 90 days and then optimize . 90 days should be more than enough time for us to conduct our split testing, but if you want to be safe and imagine you will be away somewhere with no access to Google AdWords, you can set that 90-day time period so that Google automatically shows the ad with the most conversions.
