My name is pete and welcome to studio live. Today. Where i help you create record and release your best music and if you are releasing that music and wanting to share it on social media. Facebook.
In particular you may have found the problem. I have. Which is that you ve got a lot of friends and not all of them really want to see all of your music and audio related posts. So what is the answer well it s to create your own facebook music page.
Where you can share exclusively your music. And then folks who do want to see all of your music posts can follow you there it s a really simple process. Let s jump in now and get it done so here we are in facebook on my pc. You can do the same thing on a mac and you can do it on a mobile device.
But the problem is the actual app on mobile. Isn t great for this sort of thing. It s good once you ve actually created your page. But to actually create the page.
I do suggest a mac or a pc. If you only have a mobile device use the chrome browser and log in to your facebook page that way. And then you can follow along with the process that i m going to show you here now as you can see i ve got an existing page here for my music. Which is pete john s music.
Yes. You can go and follow me on facebook at pete john s music. But what i want to create is another page for studiolive today specifically so i m going to do that in this video. But if you follow along and pretend that you re creating a music page for whatever artists name.
You want the process is going to be exactly the same so let s jump in and get this created so step one. We re gonna come up to the top right here near our main profile here we ve got my name we ve got home we ve got create we re gonna click on create and here we can create page add group event marketplace listing or fundraising. We re gonna go with page. So we re clicking on the page to start with and here we go so we ve got two options here.
We ve got business or brand and we ve got community or public figure. So you can go with either of these i would go business or brand..
Because your music is your brand and is your business. Even if it s not a technical business. You may want it to be that in the future. So let s click on get started here under business or brand and we re now asked to name our page.
So this is where you would put in your artist name or whatever you want it to be called so in my case. I m going to call this page studio live today and then the category here. We can. But whatever we want here i m just going to type in music.
And it ll bring up this sort of thing. So you can be a musician or band. Music. Video.
Music. Etc. Etc. So this is an interesting.
One because mine. Yours will probably be musician or musician or band. But i m not really music video. I wonder if there s some sort of video video creator there we go we re gonna go with video creator and i m gonna hit the continue button here to go to my next page so you can see it s already it s pretty simple.
It s pretty straightforward to get things set up here. So it s a great way to start building and promoting this next. We ve got a profile picture. So help people find your page by adding a photo.
I do recommend that you get a good photo. If it s your band or if it s you make sure it s something recognizable remember. It s gonna be in a tiny little spot so you re gonna want something reasonably large here so we re gonna click on upload a profile picture and in my case i m gonna be using my studio and live today a logo so i m gonna select that one click open and it s gonna upload that as my logo picture now as you go along here. It s going to sort of start building this up next step you see upload a cover photo now the cover photo.
If we click back over here is this image across the top here this is what s gonna be at the top of your banner or at the top of your page here so we want to select something that s gonna be nice and wide and and eye catching there so what i ll do here is we ll upload a cover photo. We ll click on that one now i ve just downloaded this one which was called untitled design. I probably should have named that a bit. Better but what i actually do is i use canva so he s canvacom.
It s a free online audio no audio image editing program software app. Whatever ii want to call it so..
You can actually create something like this so i m gonna use this for the time being as my cover image on my facebook page for studio. Live. Today. So we ll come back.
Here. And here. We go. It has actually started showing us around our new page.
But this is what we can now do we could actually select. Which friends we want to invite so let s just invite our buddy mike enjo to start with here we re gonna click on invite and that s gonna invite mike of creative sauce by the way a very good channel here on youtube you can check that one out in the description. So we ve invited mike to this page and we want to get facebook wants us to get people to like our page will x out of that and then we ll x out again. And what we can now do is we can start managing our page.
So here we are at the top. I ve got my cover image there and it s a bit wide. We can play around with that and do different things there i ve got my logo now the problem is i ve actually uploaded my logo. But i ve uploaded the transparent version of this one so i do need to come in and change that in fact let s do that now because that s gonna bug me.
And luckily. I do have a copy of my logo right here in canva so i m gonna download that one just page one at this time not as a transparent background so that i can if you bring this back in to my facebook. Page so that s downloading and that is done and canvacom. As i mentioned briefly is a free service.
You can do the ten dollar paid account. Which is what i use but it s a great way if you re not just savvy with the design like me then you can actually get some of this design. We ve done really easily so now we can click on the update button here. We can upload a photo and we ll just go to our downloads.
We ve just downloaded this logo hit open and that will hopefully replace this one there we go we can drag and reposition. It. This is gonna be a bit of an issue because it s not gonna be right in there. I m gonna have to do some playing and some resizing but we ll go with that and we ll although we can zoom.
It yeah we can zoom it out a little bit there we go we re gonna miss our create record release. We will have to play with that and get a slightly different size. But we re gonna save it for now and hopefully by the time you look at this page. It will have been updated now before i show you some of the things we can do with our facebook business page here.
I want to show you one more thing. What i would suggest you do is over here underneath..
The logo and underneath your title is to click. This one here and create a user name and at user name for your facebook page. So hopefully. If i m in early enough.
And no one s taken i can get at studio life. Today which i can so i m now going to be studio live today and at studio life. Today on facebook. Which will really help that brand and that visibility so i m gonna click create user name and there we go we re all ready and we re good to go so now if i go okay on that one and we re going to stay on this page.
It hasn t saved it it s no easier there we go user name has been created it s now easier okay there we go so we re now studio live today. We re at studio lives today. So if anyone wants to tag you if anyone wants to find your page. They re gonna find it a lot easier because they can search by those two different way ways to find you so let s now take a quick tour because it s not but if you ve used face.
You ll know how to use this so i m just gonna give you a quick two minute tour of the interface here and what youcal would someone actually set something up like that no not at all. But we re talking about photography. Here we want to fulfill on that visual satisfaction and you get that when you focus on the details. Here s a picture of a deck of cards and they looked at it and thought this theme is a nautical theme.
There s oh there s a lighthouse there s water instinctively and i talked about this in my product photography video. I went and picked up props that supported the theme of the main product. I was shooting so i got some fishing line. I got some fishing hooks things that have to do with water and the theme of the product.
I put everything on a big flat board to give me texture. But where that kind of tip comes in with the sugar is i just doused everything. And i just poured water over everything the cards got all swollen and waterlogged and looked you know all wet in certain areas. But then you could see the outline of the water and the reflection of the water from the light that i was using and it just made everything look way more stylized and themed opposed to having not done that let s talk a bit about textures having different surfaces to shoot on if you have a bunch of items that you want to photograph typically a flat texture less surface is not going to complement whatever.
It is that you re shooting as a flat lay having those items on something like a wood desk or if you re gonna go with something. That s flat and not super texturized like a wood background or wood panels. At least picking a surface that has some kind of material. That s not exactly just smooth and lifeless.
I liken it to this little cabinet. I have over here it s smooth and it s flat. But it s zinc. The top is zinc so it s a it s a type of metal that complements certain things that i m shooting.
So when i get a product or something that i want a photograph top down those items are gonna compliment from the background that is the surface of this piece of furniture. It does have some texture and life to it opposed to just shooting on like a white flat..
No reflection. Ikea desk. That s kind of what i m trying to say. Here s a shot of a knife that i took because the scales and the handles of that knife are green.
I don t you took off my shirt. Put it on the table made it all wrinkly with the knife on it shot. It top down to match the product that i was trying to focus you ve got a mousepad right here but look at the texture. There s scratches.
All over it that would be a great surface to shoot on my new office. They just did the concrete floors. I noticed a bunch of cracks in them that we filled and it just looks super industrial and really rugged and rough that is a great texture to shoot on the texture almost becomes an item in and of itself also in the photo. I don t know if you guys can tell how much i love this.
But like this is one of my passions in photography. If you keep all these things in mind you could empty your pockets or anything. That you have on your person or in your backpack lay. It down follow these steps find a nice texture or a.
Nice surface add those extra details and snap a top down photo. And you re gonna have a great photograph anywhere find a hobby that you re into let s say. It s coffee or music or drawing take the accessories and the things that you know are incorporated with that hobby lay them out and give this a shot that s one way to make this kind of easy from finding something that you like breaking down. What s involved and then following the steps of laying things out balance texture and backgrounds.
Adding. The details and then you have a beautiful beautiful photograph so guys i hope you enjoyed this video.
