“Welcome back to another video. It is francesco here. Today s video is going to to be 10 ways to get organized now for recent feedback. I know a lot you guys have been pressing me to make these sorts of videos.
And i will be making more of these so hopefully they provide you with a few tips and tricks do getting organized in your daily routine now just to let you guys know i use all of these tips and tricks as i go about my day when i plan my day and i do my freelancing work. They really do help me to just keep organized and stress free. So feel free to use them where and how you see it useful so. The first one on the list is setting clear goals and targets now when it comes to being productive.
The best way to keep organized is actually to set yourself clear goals. Now it sort of makes sense actually having those clear goals will help anything that you do whether it s the book you read or the podcast. You listen to or even like the things you do in the evening. It will help matter that bigger goal now when i look at my sort of monthly targets and three monthly targets.
They all help to provide me with a bit of clarity of what i should be focusing on and they really do set the stage for my day. So actually viewing or looking. At your clear goals every single morning or even just in the afternoon for two or three minutes will help you to keep focused and to keep organized the second tip to keeping organized is to craft a bit of space for yourself. I think.
This is a really important tactic to have if you have a little area maybe. It s against the wall in the side of your house. I have the desk area which is very helpful but a place where you can call your own that you can control the area like you can control what goes there really does gives you a bit of clarity. I remember in my previous house.
I actually had a desk that i had all my stuff on because it was a shared house and it just provided me with a bit more control now. It s such a simple idea..
But giving you this opportunity to store all of your items in one place. Whether it s an entire room or a small little area in your house. It will provide you with a bit of control and a way to start keeping you organized so the third tip is to master the structure of your to do this application. I speak to so many people that have a really simple to do this application.
But it works for them. And i really love that because once you ve made a strong base with your to do this application or your to do this list on physical paper. It provides you with so much more clarity. Sometimes when you have a busy day and schedule and things get in the way.
It can chop and change about and the great thing about having a strong base when you to do this now or list provides you with more scalability. So for example. Let s say you go from an accountant role to head of accounting in the space of a week. And you freak out because you ve got so much more responsibilities.
So much more items. Then that scalability actually is there for you so being able to master that is so very important to your organization. My fourth tip is to plan your week ahead the week before now this is a really small thing. But can make so much value.
I know many people who actually do monday and tuesday s as they re planning days. Which is absolutely fine whatever works for you but actually having your week plan before you go into it really does give you more chances of success and gives you a better outline now we speak to a lot of people who have days that change about and it s a bit manic. It looks manic. But having a week plan before will give you a bit of an outline and then during the week and your day gets busy or shaken kjetil gets busy you can chop and change.
But when it comes to the week ahead grabbing friday or saturday to do 1020. Minutes of planning towards that week will really save you some valuable time even number five again a very simple one getting all of your clothes..
Ready. The night before now. This is something i started doing about maybe seven eight months ago. And i did it a little bit when i was a kid.
But actually having your clothes ready the night before will really help your decision making in the morning to be reduced. If you re looking to get organized. This is a great tip and you can apply this to lots of different aspects of your life. Like for example.
I started putting my tea out with the tea bag in it really for the morning. So i d literally just have to put the kettle on and pour versus. Actually finding a cart finding the teabag and putting it in there in my early morning days tip number six another really simple one is stick with fewer productivity applications remember less is more sometimes and i only keep to about three or four main productivity applications. They don t use across my day and that s a maximum that scales across all of the different aspects of my workload.
And it s really simple to do that now of course you want to maybe try a few to be the sample trifling note taking apps. But making sure you keep it minimal and resourceful will provide you so much more so making. Sure you have less than more is very beneficial. Number seven is reviewing your day before it kicks off at the standard.
The morning. What i tend to do is grab. My calendar and that tends to be on my phone and i ll just scroll through my day to make sure that i m aware of all of the meetings that i have on and what i tend to think my schedule or even the structure of the day will be now having this little pre like session with myself provides me with the ability to get a feel for my day. And understand where i need to put my energy into and where i need to pause.
When i need to get there tip number eight to getting organized is planning words sub tasks or checklists will provide you with so much more value. So for example..
If you have evernote or even a to do list application using checklists at the start of your day will give you a really nice kickstart. What i tend to do in the mornings is if i want to have like a good start to my day. I ll do some really small less than five minute items and i ll do about five or six even ten of them sometimes to get the ball rolling now there s nothing worse. I guess in my day than having a really stressful big task on in the morning.
I want to ease into my day and a lot of time. I ll do all these short items to get the ball rolling. Now that might be completely opposite to you you might like doing a big. Most important item as you start your day.
I tend to have it after i do those sorts of things first. But it depends on totally what you are but having that first task or those multiple tasks will help you to get the ball rolling as you go about your day. Remember you want to feel like you re stuff in the morning. So that you can achieve stuff later on in a day.
And you can keep that momentum going number nine is to be fluid with your schedule. Despite changes now. We all know at work. Sometimes.
Our meeting schedule. Changes or even another item comes along the most important list and you re like ah. What do i do now. I used to be like this a lot before maybe about a year ago or a year and a half ago.
I would if we changed like schedule on the weekends. I would sort of freak out and maybe get a bit grumpy..
But actually having the ability to be flexible and sort of fluid with the changes in your routine will providing would so much more and they really did help me do that and i found it so useful. When i was a bit more fluid with the routine. So be open to that and obviously you don t spend all of your time in order to do this application changing your day you just need to spend five minutes and one of my final tips that i probably came across in the last three months. But despite having a phone for many many years is actually organizing your home pages.
Now i have two simple home pages a go on scroll. One is up the main apps. Two is all of the additional apps and actually having this level of organization and structure really has saved me huge amounts of time and we didn t think it would. But you know actually having that set up has really provided me time i used to download apps and just leave them everywhere.
And now that actually has saved me a lot of time so even 5 10 minutes fixing that in your evening. Might be very useful for the week ahead so just before we go a little bonus one from me. I don t check emails in the first hour. I find it very distracting when emails pop up and especially.
When you want to jump on them and do them in the morning sometimes actually could be quite stressful so i try to avoid them in the first hour.
